Change in Leadership for Wide Bay Australia International Airshow Board
At the Wide Bay Australia International Airshow meeting on Friday the Board was informed that Mr Peter Tuffield had tendered his resignation as Chairman and Director due to serious illness.
Peter, who recently retired from the National Australia bank, where he was Regional Business Banking Manager, has been Chairman of the Airshow for the past six years and has been instrumental in making the Airshow into a professionally run organisation that contributes substantially to the region's economy every two years. Since he took over leadership in 2005, he has been the face of the Airshow and has worked tirelessly to build this event to the International standard that it is today. Peter has also been actively involved in the community and is recognised for giving freely of his time to assist the Airshow and many other community-based initiatives.
It was with reluctance that the Board accepted Peter's resignation. The Board of Directors has appointed Mr Daryl Corpe as the new Chairman and Mr Neil McPhillips as Deputy Chairman.
"I have great respect for Peter's decision. It would have been a difficult decision as his dedication and enthusiasm for this event is unquestionable" said Daryl Corpe, Chairman. "Peter has made an outstanding contribution to the Airshow and it is with great regret that the Directors and staff will no longer be able to work with Peter on this event. We extend our thanks and appreciation to Peter for his service and wish him a full recovery, and we hope to see him actively engaged in community activities again in the future." said Daryl. Daryl Corpe's and Neil McPhillip's commitment to aviation is demonstrated in more than their personal passion for flying. They have collectively volunteered over nine years to help make the Wide Bay Australia International Air Show a success, benefitting the local aviation industry and economy.
