Wide Bay Australia International Airshow 2011
Training and Careers Day Program

Youth from throughout the region are gearing up to learn about aviation career
opportunities. In 2011 the Wide Bay Australia International Airshow will have a new
feature, for the first time a Training and Careers precinct has been established adjacent to
the Static Aircraft Display area at the Southern end of the airport. The Training and
Careers Precinct is targeted towards careers, training and employment for the Aviation
Industry.

"The Wide Bay region has many excellent aviation companies that are exporting their
goods and services globally; Jabiru, Seabird Aviation, Microair and Camit to name a few.
We have strong aviation education opportunities in this region and through this dedicated
Training and Careers Program we are helping to provide career opportunities to a targeted
audience" said Mr Daryl Corpe, Chairperson Wide Bay Australia International Airshow.

The precinct will be home to a seminar centre as well as displays by Defence Force
Recruitment (DFR), CQ University, Sky Education and the Queensland Institute for
Aviation Engineering. The Australian Army Cadets - 18 ACU Bundaberg will also have a
presence in the precinct on Friday and the Australian Air Force Cadets 2 Wing based in
Bundaberg will also be in the precinct for the three days of the show.

All regional high schools have received an invitation to bring senior students to the
airshow on Friday 19th August free of charge to see the displays, to meet with Defence
personnel and education/training organisations on site and to participate in a series of
seminars to be presented by DFR and Sky Education. DFR will speak on military careers
and the training opportunities that are available in the Defence Forces.

Sky Education will be speaking on career pathways within the aviation industry in all
areas of ground operations and services. An additional highlight of the program will be an
opportunity to meet with Matt Hall, the Red Bull Racer who is a feature of the airshow in
2011. Matt will speak about his career in the RAAF and his experiences as an air race
pilot.
DFR and Sky Education will also be doing presentations on Saturday and Sunday in the
Training and Careers precinct. Access to the airshow on these days will be at normal entry
cost but participation in the seminars will be free on both days.
"We want to promote the awareness and importance of the aviation industry to not only
our local region but also nationally. This event is a great opportunity to showcase our
regions capabilities to an international audience" said Mr Corpe.

Airshow management is looking forward to receiving bookings from regional high schools
for the seminars and encourages them to book early by contacting the airshow office on
4155 0044.
